GOAL300 Walk for Peace and Education

The Inaugural GOAL300 annual Walk for Peace and Education will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026. Goal300 Goal300 is the acronym for Education Learning, and Training Opportunities for Vulnerable Children (GELTO). GELTO or simply GOAL300 is an ambitious program targeting vulnerable children and youth in Kenya. Through the program, the Organization aims to support vulnerable children and youth in accessing basic education and technical skills, with psychosocial support. The program has three main outcomes: Increased Access to Basic Education (IABE), Enhanced Skills for Employability and Entrepreneurial Success (ESEES), and Improved Emotional and Psychosocial Well-being (IEPW).

Despite Kenya having a youthful population with 19.8 million (34.74%), 13.3 million (67%) remain out of employment. 3.5 million of these youths are classified as Not in Employment, Schooling or Training (NEST), with a majority being unable to secure meaningful employment due to a lack of necessary skills. 1.782 million (9%) youths are using drugs and other substances, with several victims being in school. In terms of School enrolment, 15% of school-going age children remain locked out of the education system, partly because of financial constraints. This accounts for 1.2 million children, who remain locked out of the education system.
More worrying is the report that 1 in every 2 children enrolled in senior schools, formally
secondary schools, remain locked out of regular classes due to poverty or lack of school fees.
In terms of mental health and psycho-social wellbeing, 1 in every 5 teenagers globally suffers from mental distress. In Kenya, 1 in every 2 school children face depression and anxiety. 17.4% of adolescent problems are reportedly attributed to family and financial problems. GOAL300 seeks to intervene by supporting the vulnerable children and youth through scholarships to Grade 10 learners in 2027, Technical and Entrepreneurial Skill Training to youths from August 2026, and piloting Peace and Peer Counselling Clubs in select schools. The program will be implemented through financial proceeds from the Walk, which is scheduled for July 11, 2026.
The GOAL300 Walk is a fundraiser bringing together well-wishers from all walks, including corporate, institutional, and individual, willing to transform the lives of vulnerable children and youth in Kenya. The rallying call or theme for this year’s walk is, ‘Step for Peace and Stride for Education.’

The GOAL300 Walk for Peace and Education will be held in Nairobi on July 11, 2026. The Walk is open to registered participants. Regular registration is Kshs. 1,500 for individuals. Corporate teams can participate either through the sponsorship program or by registering a corporate team of either 5 or 10 members. For a team of 5, registration is Kshs. 25,000, and Kshs. 50,000 for a team of 10. Individual VIP Tickets are selling at Ksh. 20,000 for Early Birds and Ksh. 50,000 at the gate.
