Our Core values are summarised in a five-letter acronym known as PIETE. PIETE stands for passion, Integrity, Empathy, Transparency and Equity.
- Passion: At AFRIEDO, we love what we do and do what we love. Whether it is education, mentorship, training, or advocacy, we seek to do our very best. By continuous learning, experimenting, and doing new things, we seek to innovate and continuously evolve to provide current, modern, and responsive solutions to problems bedeviling our society.
- Integrity: AFRIEDO strives to uphold the highest standards of morality. We speak against immoral practices that seek to alienate, belittle, and disadvantage humanity. We stand for dignity and strive to uphold and support Integrity.
- Empathy: The epitome of our work is our ability and capacity to identify with, strategically position ourselves, and work with vulnerable children, youth, and communities with a single goal of transforming their current situation to a better situation. We strive to eliminate barriers, shift the power, and enable beneficiaries to take control of their lives and positively impact their environment.
- Transparency: AFRIEDO believes and strives to communicate in an open manner with both the donors, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders.
- Equity: Whereas we may not all be equal in different ways, AFRIEDO believes that effort and strategy should be applied in fostering inclusion. Equal treatment may not always produce desirable results for some communities, regions, and families, hence the need for preferential treatment of those disadvantaged or left behind. Preferential treatment and allocation of resources enable communities and individuals left behind to fast-track their paths and be able to compete with peers who are ahead.
