Our Mission

AFRIEDO exists with one mission, which is to transform Communities by fostering peace, education, entrepreneurship, and research initiatives designed to eliminate barriers and empower beneficiaries toward independence and self-reliance.

AFRIEDO believes that true transformation occurs at the intersection of peace, information, and freedom. Peaceful co-existence and social tranquility are key enablers to growth and development. Where there is peace, children will go to school, play, learn, and grow in harmony. Peaceful environments provide a conducive environment for individuals to go about their routine socio-economic activities. Productivity is at its peak, and growth is imminent. Our work on conflict transformation, therefore, seeks to eliminate conflict and inculcate sustainable peace in communities. To achieve peace, we educate and empower communities on how to navigate conflict, embrace non-violent peace resolution techniques, pursue dialogue, and build strong bonds. Livelihood trainings coupled with entrepreneurial trainings enable beneficiaries to work and support their needs with dignity in lawful means.

Our second pillar of transformation is education. AFRIEDO specifically targets vulnerable children who face financial and material barriers to accessing education. Our work is centered on eliminating the barriers so that they can access Quality education learning opportunities. AFRIEDO believes that Quality education should be Available, Accessible, and Affordable (AAA). By focusing on Basic education, AFRIEDO cooperates with other stakeholders to eliminate the barriers so that all children have access to affordable and inclusive education.

Our third pillar is Technical and Entrepreneurial Skilling Training (TEST). TEST focuses on skill, equipment, and entrepreneurship, and the key to problem-solving and employment creation. With over 67% youth being unemployed, and the globe having a youthful population, there is a need to refocus effort and resources to modern, responsive, and productive training. For a long time, Learning institutions have produced educated individuals with minimal skills that can fit the modern needs. AFRIEDO focuses on re-thinking manpower development from training employees to incubating ideas that create opportunities. The fourth and last pillar is data. AFRIEDO’s research work is aimed at understanding the cause, the result, and the effect (CRE). CRE is used to develop tailored solutions that transform reality into opportunities.

“Transformation is not about becoming someone new, but about removing the barriers…”            — George Bernard Shaw
